After being founded in 2008 the Asheville Cycling Elite (ACE) Team quickly established itself as the premier Elite cycling team in the Asheville area and landed the title sponsor of Industry Nine Components. Composed of eight Category 1 and 2 local riders from Asheville, the team competes locally as well as regionally in North Carolina as well as Tennessee, and South Carolina. With a goal of showcasing not only the area’s local talent, but also businesses, the team participated in over 60 events in 2009. With similar goals in 2010 the team plans to participate in an even greater number of regional and local events well as local events that can grow cycling’s profile in Asheville and highlight sponsors’ businesses.
2010 will bring a couple of fresh faces to the team which will help the team focus more closely on the local racing scene, but also compete regionally. The teams members all have families and careers and enjoy the opportunity to give back to a sport that has enriched each of their lives. The year’s goals include wins in Masters Nationals events, a world hour record attempt, and wins in Asheville’s local race series and the regional Pro 1,2 calendar . These goals will allow the team to not only focus their strength, but will also enable them to provide maximum exposure to their local sponsors.
In addition, Asheville Cycling Elite Team is partnering with Asheville Youth Cycling. This enables Asheville Cycling Elite Team to offer advice and development to riders looking to advance in their cycling goals and accomplishments and help guide the next generation of Asheville’s cyclists.
