Chris Larsen began racing in 1993 at age 15 for ABRT/Snow Valley and advanced from category 5 to category 1 over the next 4 years. As ABRT’s junior team president, Chris was State Champion, participated in multiple National Championships, placed 3rd as a member of the 1996 Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic team and attended training camps at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
During his collegiate career at Virginia Tech he was president of the team and led the team to a best men’s team placing nationally while earning a spot on the 1998 All-American Cycling Team. He also traveled the county competing in many Pro-Am races which included training with and racing against some of the cycling world’s biggest names: Lance Armstrong, Floyd Landis, Christian Vandevelde, Freddy Rodriguez, Chris Horner, and George Hincapie.
Chris began racing again in 2007 with a goal of competing on the national stage in the Masters category as well as in some of the bigger local and regional Pro/1/2 races. In his first year competing in the Masters National 30-34 TT he took home a medal, placing 5th while riding for Industry Nine.
Chris and his wife Jessica recently moved to Asheville, NC. He works in medical sales selling spinal implants. When he’s not working or riding his bike he enjoys spending time with Jessica and Jackie, his dog, on the trail or local parks hiking, mountain biking, and in the winter snowboarding. Afterwards he can be found eating good food and drinking a cold beer, preferably from one of Asheville’s seven local breweries!
