Jason came to cycling later in life after a childhood / collegiate career of distance running.  Growing tired of repeated injuries from running and finding some free time after completing his medical residency, he got a bike, got in shape and in 2005 won the first USCF race in which he competed. Quickly progressing through the categorization ranks, Jason discovered an aptitude for time trials.  This further transitioned into track cycling where a World Masters Record for The Hour (how far one can ride solo on a velodrome for 60 minutes) was accomplished and a Masters National Championship was obtained in the individual pursuit in 2007 and a repeat in 2008.  This was followed by a top 5 finish at the Masters World Championships in Sydney, Australia.

A pathologist who is a fixture in the medical community since arriving in Asheville in 2001, Jason spends many hours training in the early morning in order to have time to spend with his wife, Sesalie, and children Aemilia and Brodie - both of whom already like to ride bikes at ages 5 and 4, respectively!

Jason's goals for the current season are another national championship and another shot at a world title.  Next year, another hour record attempt is already in the planning stages, as well as frequently competing on the local and regional level.

When not working, training or chasing his children at a playground, Jason finds time to collapse in front of a movie or read classic literature.
